Split time bookings

Service contracts often include time quotas billed differently. teamspace splits a booking automatically when it would exceed the quota — one part fills the quota, the rest falls into the next billing pot.

Limited billing positions

Common patterns:

  • Two hours of support free; anything beyond at €150/hour
  • One workshop day at €800; second at €1,200
  • After four hours of training this month, technical service is billed at half price

Automatic splitting

If Barbara books 2 h and Denise 1 h on top, no split needed. If Barbara books 3 h, the system splits her booking — 2 h free, 1 h at €150. The system tracks the remaining capacity per contingent.

Multi-step and dynamic splits

Splits can chain — a long booking may yield three entries with different rates. Splits are dynamic: change the contingent from 2 h to 2.5 h and the split adjusts. Raise the contingent enough and splits merge back into the original booking.

Editing afterwards

A “master booking” is the source of truth. Editing it keeps its values even when the split changes. Editing a split-off booking is temporary — it lasts only as long as the split. Need to keep the current split? Make it permanent — the booking is then split into two real bookings. Once invoiced, splits are read-only.
